Meet Thomas Wouters, Business Developer at Anchr.

• What does a typical working day look like for you?  

As a business developer, I try to introduce our products to various organisations. I specifically look for organisations that could benefit from our software solutions on a daily basis, and I try to convince them to work with us. I get in touch with them via a calling campaign, email or LinkedIn campaigns, or by attending events. I also manage our existing customer accounts, so I can often be found at their offices.  

• How do you prefer to collaborate?  

I enjoy brainstorming with other colleagues and exchanging ideas on how we can approach clients. I meet with the sales team weekly. I also like to check in with colleagues regularly. For instance, I often sit down with our operations team to discuss planning possibilities, and I collaborate with colleagues from the pre-sales team to determine who is best suited to accompany us when visiting a prospect. 

• How do you deal with challenges? 

When a challenge arises, I like to discuss with my colleagues how we can tackle it most effectively.  

• What makes you happy?  What opportunities do you see?

I am happy with the freedom I have to shape my job. Since I have a sales role, I am often on the road. I can combine my role well with working from home, and I have the autonomy to schedule my meetings when I choose. At Anchr, there are definitely growth opportunities. When I look at colleagues like Michel Petrusma, I admire that he has been working for the same company for 25 years. I like to see myself as a ‘Michel Petrusma Junior’ 😉. 

• What is your best Anchr moment?

Last year, I had the opportunity to attend the Posit conference in Chicago. I found it special to finally meet the Posit contacts that I speak to weekly in person after 2 years. Additionally, after the conference, I had the chance to do some sightseeing with my colleagues. It was a fantastic experience! 

• Why did you choose to work at Anchr and why is it an interesting workplace for you?

For me, it was the personal approach and the feeling that they really believe in their employees. I also find the flexibility very convenient. Finally, they encourage initiative and also support you in that respect.
