i-mens introduces a new electronic nursing record for more efficient patient rounds
Looking for a future-proof, homologated, and high-performance solution
One central solution
The organisations within i-mens have been using an Electronic Nursing File since 2016. From the merger, the need arose to transition to a single joint nursing file with all parties, focusing on achieving and maintaining a quality accreditation (quality label).
In 2019, i-mens published a tender for this, which was awarded to Anchr. Based on the electronic nursing file that Anchr built in 2017 for the White-Yellow Cross West Flanders, the i-mens project commenced in June 2020.
Usability, quality, and flexibility at the core
Perfect working tool
As an expert in the healthcare sector, Anchr was able to translate the requirements and challenges of the organisation into a solution that anticipates the significant organisational complexity of home care. Consider daily questions such as 'how many staff members are working?', 'how many patients need to be cared for?' and 'how can we organise the rounds of our care staff as optimally as possible?'.
Firstly, Anchr ensured the migration of the existing database to the new Electronic Nursing Record. This new solution consists of an intuitive, mobile frontend that care staff can manage via a tablet, and the back office, which is fully hosted in the Anchr data centre, can consult and process the entered patient data via a PC.
Thanks to the Electronic Nursing Record, nurses can now track and manage their schedules, rounds, and patient files in real-time. In the back office, schedules for care staff are automatically created based on a street plan application. On the tablet app, they can visualise their planning and access all necessary patient information (such as wound care information, support with the KATZ scale, management of prescriptions, and medication sheets) using the built-in eID reader during their visits.
The solution was, of course, also equipped with a streamlined integration with the existing application landscape of the new organisation, as well as with external systems for caregivers and patients such as MyCareNet, and in a follow-up phase, an integration with Vitalink and eHealthBox will also be established.
Phased implementation of the new solution
Ready.Set.Go
In December 2020, already about five hundred users started using the new, homologated and future-proof Electronic Nursing File solution. As outlined in the specifications, around a hundred users were also able to connect from April 2021. The remaining three hundred users will follow from July 2021.
Despite the Covid measures that hindered physical collaboration, the very strict deadlines, and i-mens as an organisation undergoing significant evolution, the project was delivered successfully and on time.
Furthermore, in the next phase, a platform will be set up where all information per patient is centralised in a secure, personal space accessible to both the patients themselves and the care providers, informal caregivers, and other care actors.
About i-mens
Home in home care
i-mens is a new care organisation active in Flanders and Brussels since March 2020 and the result of the collaboration between the non-profit organisations Solidariteit voor het Gezin and Thuishulp and their partners in home care. The organisation has more than 12,000 experienced employees and 2,200 volunteers.
For several years, there has been close collaboration between the parties involved, with the establishment of the ambitious care centre Z-plus as a clear example. There has also been a long-standing collaboration in the ZORG24 projects that goes directly to the patient's home. There is a strong agreement in norms and values, as is now also encapsulated in the values, mission, and vision of i-mens.
