Etex, the global producer of building materials based in Belgium, is increasing the productivity of its production lines with interactive dashboards. These dashboards inform employees daily about productivity, safety, and quality on their production line. Anchr provided the setup and smooth implementation of the dashboards!

At Etex, the aim is to strike the right balance between efficiency and quality. It is from this drive that Etex, in collaboration with Anchr, sought a way to positively utilise the data available from its production lines in the factory.

‘Having data is good, but it only becomes valuable when you can structure and present it clearly,’ says Thomas Wouters, Business Development Manager Business Insights at Anchr. ‘With Power BI, part of the market-leading Microsoft Power Platform, a business intelligence and data science solution, we have created a dashboard for ‘Coating Line 2’, one of Etex’s production lines.’ The result? A dashboard that structures and visually represents live data from the last 24 hours.

Realtime updates

Through Excel files filled in by factory workers during their shift, and via SAP, the necessary data is collected and then imported into Power BI. Currently, all data is aggregated and visualised on a daily basis. In the future, there will be plans to make this data almost real-time and provide hourly updates on the screens.  

Increased efficiency, quality and engagement

Thanks to the implementation of the interactive dashboards, team leaders and employees can jointly evaluate the production data from the previous day. It enables them to gain valuable insights, leading to faster and better-informed decisions and discussions on points of concern.

‘We have been able to bring more transparency to the production processes,’ said Thomas Wouters. ‘And this increases productivity as employees can now directly see how their actions influence the output. Moreover, it encourages quality and employee engagement as they feel more responsible for their contribution to the success of the production process.’
